Evidence for Previously Unidentified Sexual Transmission of Protozoan Parasites
Knowing the mode of transmission of a disease can affect its control and prevention. Here, we identify 5 protozoan parasites with demonstrated presence in seminal fluid, only 1 of which has been identified as a sexually transmitted disease among humans.

متن کاملPreviously unidentified morbidity in patients with intellectual disability.
BACKGROUND Adults with a learning disability frequently have unmet health needs. The cause for this is complex and may be related to difficulties in accessing usual primary care services. Health checks have been widely recommended as a solution to this need. AIM To determine the likelihood that a structured health check by the primary care team supported by appropriate education would identif...
متن کاملA WW-like module in the RAG1 N-terminal domain contributes to previously unidentified protein–protein interactions
More than one-third of the RAG1 protein can be truncated from the N-terminus with only subtle effects on the products of V(D)J recombination in vitro or in a mouse. What, then, is the function of the N-terminal domain? We believe it to be regulatory. We determined, several years ago, that an included RING motif could function as an ubiquitin E3 ligase. Whether this activity is limited to automo...
متن کاملRegulation of type IV secretion apparatus genes during Ehrlichia chaffeensis intracellular development by a previously unidentified protein.
The type IV secretion (T4S) system is critical for the virulence of several pathogens. In the rickettsial pathogen Ehrlichia chaffeensis, the virBD genes are split into two operons, the virB3-virB6 (preceded by sodB) and virB8-virD4 operons. Between these two operons, there are duplications of virB4, virB8, and virB9. In this study we found that transcription of all five loci was downregulated ...
